Changes at Random House downunder

RANDOM House Australia managing director Margie Seale will stand down in November to take up a new career as a non-executive director and business advisor.

From The Australian

In a statement released today, Seale said one of her first roles would be as a consultant to the Random House business.

She will continue to act as a non-executive director of the Random House ANZ businesses. She has also been appointed non-executive director of Telstra.

Seale said: "It has been a great 12 years at Random House and a delight to work with so many talented people. This has been a difficult decision to make, but the timing now feels right."

Seale joined Random House Australia as deputy managing director in 2000 with responsibility for the publishing division of the company. She was promoted to managing director of Australia in 2001, adding responsibility for the NZ business in 2008 and for investigating Asian opportunities for Random House worldwide in 2010.

She began her career as assistant editor at Wine and Spirit Buying Guide.

In a separate statement, the Random House Group announced that Seale would be replaced by an executive leadership team under the joint stewardship of Andrew Davis and Karen Ferns.

Davis, currently chief operating officer of Random House Australia, and Ferns, currently managing director of Random House New Zealand, will take up the newly created roles of joint managing director of Random’s Australasian companies from December 1, 2012 and will report to Brian Davies, head of operations (UK and overseas) of The Random House Group
